An Afternoon of Enshū-ryū Tea Ceremony

An Afternoon of Enshū-ryū Tea Ceremony — Sunday, November 29

Join the Yale Club of Japan and Japan Stanford Association for an intimate introduction to Enshū-ryū tea, a tradition founded by Kobori Enshū, tea master to the Tokugawa shoguns.

Asai Sōchō Sensei will welcome us to his tea room in Ichigaya, with co-host Tomohiro Nakagawa (Yale GSAS ’13; Stanford ’14). Enjoy seasonal sweets and matcha, admire the tea room’s scroll and flowers, and hear about the Way of Tea. No experience is needed, and English interpretation will be provided.

Choose 1:00–2:30 p.m. or 3:00–4:30 p.m. Tickets are ¥6,500 per person, with each session limited to 10 guests. The exact address will be shared with registered attendees. No dress code; kimono welcome.
