Join fellow Yalies for an autumn afternoon exploring central Yokohama’s history and harbor views with Glenn Scoggins. The itinerary will include the Red Brick Warehouses and Landmark Tower.
Yokohama is one of Japan’s youngest cities, as it came into existence only in 1859. It quickly grew as a center of trade from around the world, with Western and Chinese residents contributing to the unique atmosphere of a harbor town. Despite destruction by earthquake in 1923 and wartime bombing in 1945, it has recovered to become an economic and cultural center of the Kantō region.
